Anne Hathaway has opened up about her five years of sobriety, describing her accomplishment as a “milestone.” The actor, 41, spoke to the New York Times in a new profile, in which she also reflected that celebrating her fortieth birthday “feels like a gift.”
“I hesitate at calling things ‘middle age’ simply because I can be a semantic stickler and I could get hit by a car later today. We don’t know if this is middle age. We don’t know anything,” Hathaway added.
When asked if anything was in the works for a third The Princess Diaries installment, Hathaway replied with a simple “yep.”
41-year-old American actress Anne Hathaway announced that she decided to quit drinking alcohol after a bad evening in 2018. In a new interview with the New York Times, Hathaway opened up about her health and situation in her forties.
“There are many other things that I describe as turning points,” Hathaway said. I don’t normally talk about this, but I’ve been sober for over five years. This feels like a turning point for me, like a gift. “He said, ‘I want to be completely fit and gift this to my children.'”

In an interview she gave in 2019, Hathaway said, “I love alcohol very much, but it takes me away from my son.”
“The last time I had a hangover it didn’t wear off for five days. Because that day I started drinking with my friends during the day. The atmosphere then turned into a birthday party and I continued drinking. Afterwards, I couldn’t come to my senses for 5 days. “I’ve never been one to spend an evening with a glass of wine,” he said.
The famous actress, who married Adam Shulman in 2012, has two sons.
